Thomas is Chief Executive of Wakefield BID and a big believer in making the city a safer, more welcoming place for everyone—especially women, girls, and vulnerable groups.
Since stepping into the role in 2024, he’s been working closely with local venues, partners, and the community to push forward practical safety initiatives. As an Ask for Angela Ambassador, Thomas has helped raise awareness of the scheme across Wakefield, making sure venues have the posters, training, and tools they need to support people who might feel unsafe.
He’s also behind Safer Wakefield—a new partnership bringing businesses, the police, and the council together to tackle issues head-on, with radio networks and intelligence sharing now helping to keep the city safer, day and night.
On top of that, Thomas has introduced free vulnerability and Active Bystander Training sessions for bar and hospitality staff, helping give people the confidence to step in and look out for one another.
For Thomas, it’s all about bringing people together and creating a Wakefield where everyone feels safe, supported, and proud to be.
