Councillor Daniel Wilton is the Labour & Cooperative Councillor for Normanton, Warmfield, Kirkthorpe and Heath. Cllr Wilton became the district’s youngest ever politician when he was elected to represent his hometown of Normanton in the May 2024 elections.

Daniel was appointed as the Cabinet Member for Communities in May 2025. In this role, he chairs the Wakefield Community Safety Partnership (CSP). The CSP is made up of eight partner organisations which come together to support community safety initiatives with a focus on Violence Against Women and Girls and Wakefield’s night time economy. Through this work, Daniel is championing initiatives like Ask for Angela, which Wakefield is proud to be at the centre of supporting.
