Leeds Test Purchase Achieves 92%

Officers from the Leeds Licensing Team recently carried out a test purchase operation in Headingley, Hyde Park and Leeds City Centre as part of their Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) week of action.

They did this by sending plain-clothed officers into various venues, each carrying out different scenarios focusing on women’s safety including using Ask for Angela. The scenarios included both security staff and bar staff to test their reactions.

The results of the investigation showed 92% of venues visited responded positively and the ones that weren’t as successful would receive a full debrief and support moving forward.

This operation also resulted in a partnership meeting between the Police and the Local Authority as well as other key partners that focused on women’s safety in the NTE as part of their VAWG week of action.
